The Ooty Radio Telescope

Over the last decade, the ORT has been mainly used for studies of Inter-Planetary Scintillation, providing an important probe of solar activity and space weather studies. In collaboration with the Raman Research Institute, the ORT's analog and digital electronics are being upgraded, to provide a wide field of view and improved sensitivity. In addition, a new pulsar backend has been installed. The versatile upgraded ORT will allow a number of studies requiring high sensitivity, such as accurate pulsar observations, searches for neutral hydrogen at high redshifts, searches for transients, solar and space weather studies, etc.
