Cultural Activities

NCRA supports several cultural activities. Some are as follows:

IMAGIN is the Indian Music Appreciation group of NCRA. A place for meditative engagement, a recognition of unstinting effort and a community for expression of creative energy; this is what artists and scientists both look for. It is perhaps for this reason that many science institutes and centres of higher education and research in India, create spaces for high art endeavours. Indian Music Appreciation group of NCRA (IMAGIN) is a community effort initiated in this very spirit.

ICCR-NCRA: Another event is the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR)  and NCRA-TIFR.

Its mandate is to engage in a creative dialogue with other Nations showcasing the diverse and rich cultural tradition of India while promoting dialogue with them through academic and cultural exchanges. It is a fully funded cultural wing of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. ICCR Pune Office hosts cultural programmes under the banner, “HORIZON SERIES”, to showcase the talent of young, upcoming artists from across India by hosting their performances.

SPIC-MACAY: The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth, (popularly known as SPIC MACAY), is a voluntary and non-profit student movement.

The primary purpose of the organization has been to make youth aware of the rich cultural heritage of India and to facilitate the exchange of traditional Indian values and aesthetic awareness into the mainstream of the Indian educational system. It facilitates this interaction by organizing performances and workshops in the areas of classical music, folk performances, craft workshops, film classics, yoga and meditation, heritage walks to monuments, talks by eminent philosophers, painters, writers and social workers, holistic food and conventions.
