Biography:

I have obtained my Ph.D. degee from the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, USA in 2016 where I worked with Dr. Chris O'Dea and Dr. Stefi Baum. Prior to this, I obtained a Master's of Technology degree in Digital Electronics and Communication Systems from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. I also have five years of work experience as a Software Engineer in Tata Consultancy Services.

Research description:

Ionization of cooling flow filaments in the cool-core galaxy clusters has been an unsolved mystery for more than two decades. I am currently exploring the possible sources that are heating/ionizing the gas in these filaments by analyzing HST-COS far-ultraviolet spectra of cool-core galaxy clusters. Ultraviolet line diagnostics can be used to distinguish between various ionization models. In an earlier project, I studied the effect of AGN activity in a sample of nearby early-type galaxies using analysis of multi-wavelength archival data. I am also involved in a citizen science research collaboratory, RAD@home, which is a human-resource network to educate and directly involve a large population of science-educated graduates and under-graduates in research.
