The National Centre for Radio Astrophysics, Pune [NCRA] of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research [TIFR] (an autonomous institute under the umbrella of the Department of Atomic Energy of the Government of India) is an internationally reputed research institute. NCRA–TIFR has set up two radio telescopes, viz., the Ooty Radio Telescope (ORT) and the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT). The ORT is run by the Radio Astronomy Centre (RAC), Ooty, NCRA-TIFR is on the lookout for suitably qualified candidates for the following positions at its Radio Astronomy Centre at Ooty

1. Scientific Assistant-B [Trainee]   Click here to apply online

Stipend: 16,000 pm. Successful training will lead to absorption, on probation, as Scientific Assistant-B in PB-2: 9300-34800; GP: 4200 [TME: 33387/-].
Minimum Qualification: (a) B.Sc. (Physics / Electronics) / Diploma in Engineering, (Electronics/ Electrical and Electronics) with 60% marks in aggregate. (b) Knowledge of use of personal computers and its applications.
Nature of job: Initial training in electronics/ electrical, computer systems and operation of radio telescopes as Trainee for 1 year. Bond is to be executed before joining to serve NCRA for at least 3 years after successful completion of training. The incumbant will have to work on shift duties.
Age: Below 43 years for ST+PWD (Hearing Handicapped) (after relaxation)

Minimum Experience: Either (i) 5 years or (ii) NCTVT with 4 years in reputed workshop /organization on large antennas, hands-on experience on heavy sized gearbox maintenance, exposure to various sheet metal developments and its fabrication, structural fabrication, various maintenance works, etc. To work at a height of 20 meter.
Age: Below 28 years.

Minimum Qualifications: (a) 10th or equivalent (b) ITI–Welder with minimum 60% marks.
Desirable: IBR Certificate / X-Ray quality welder certificate in pipe-6G / plate-4G positions.
Minimum Experience: Either (i) 5 years or (ii) NCTVT with 4 year experience in IBR quality welding / X-ray quality welding, gas welding, brazing, etc., in large organisation. To work at a height of 20 meter on our Radio Telescope.
Age: Below 31 years (after relaxation).

Desirable: Knowledge and operation of AutoCad in civil drawings.

Minimum Qualifications & minimum experience: i) 10th OR Equivalent with 4 years experience in workshop / reputed industry / organisation or (ii) ITI (any mechanical) with two years experience in a medium / large sized industry / workshop.
Job Requirement: To work and assist staff in workshop, while carrying out various repair works on gearboxes, sheet-metal works, fabrication works, machines, upkeep of workshop area, etc. To carryout various maintenance activities such as removal of old grease, removal and replacement of gearbox oil, etc., while working at a height of 20 meter on our Radio Telescope.
Age: Below 28 years.
