Students' Programme

The Students' Programme (SP) at NCRA-TIFR is an informal programme under which pre-doctoral (usually under-graduate) students may carry out an astronomy research project with an NCRA-TIFR faculty member for periods lasting up to a year. Projects under the SP scheme may begin at any time of the year.  Projects up to three months duration only require the agreement of an NCRA-TIFR faculty supervisor to guide the project. Projects extending beyond three months require an interview by an NCRA-TIFR faculty committee at the beginning of the project.

Students interested in the SP should write directly to NCRA-TIFR faculty members at their e-mail addresses (see here) to request projects. Any general queries regarding the programme may be addressed to deanncra@ncra.tifr.res.in .

Subject to availability, students in the SP may also be provided with accommodation in the NCRA-TIFR hostel.

Note: The NCRA-TIFR Students' Programme is only for projects related to astronomy or astronomical techniques, and not for engineering projects. Engineering students who would like to work on engineering projects should apply online via the form here.
