Biography:
Suryarao obtained a B. Tech. degree in Engineering Physics (with honours) and in Electrical Engineering as second major from the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, in 2018. He then obtained a Master's degree in Physics from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Brownsville USA,, in 2020. Following this, he joined the Max-Planck-Institute for Radio Astronomy in Bonn, Germany, for his doctoral research, completing his Ph.D. in March 2026. He joined NCRA in March 2026 as a post-doctoral fellow.
Research Description:
I am fascinated by the idea of measuring polarization position angles to infer the geometry of the source.
Currently, i am applying this technique to study radio transients, including Fast Radio Bursts, Long Period Transients, and pulsars. In the future, I plan to use this technique in the X-ray regime, to infer the geometry of X-ray emitting sources. Accurately measuring polarization position angles requires accurate
polarization calibration and measurement strategies. I am hence also interested in working on astronomical techniques to improve polarization calibration and measurement. Finally, I am excited about science popularization and am interested in presenting research work using animations, demonstrations and video essays.
