Assignments
The course will consist of about 14 lectures of 1.0 - 1.5 hours duration, with typically 2 lectures per week. Some weeks might have 3 lectures to make up for any lost slots.
The evaluation will be split equally between a seminar, based on the review of a research paper, and two take-home assignments, with 50% weightage to the seminar, and 50% to the two assignments.
The two assignments will be given midway through and at around the end of the course. Discussions with anyone at all on how to do the assignments are entirely acceptable, but do formally acknowledge such discussions, and any help received, in the submission. I may choose to discuss individual answer sheets with their authors to check whether the author has actually understood what s/he has written or whether s/he has merely regurgitated help received from external sources.
