The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 is a legislative act in India that seeks to protect women from sexual harassment at their place of work.The Act came into force from 9 December 2013. This superseded the Vishakha Guidelines for prevention of sexual harassment introduced by the Supreme Court of India in 1997.

Please note that sexual harassment need not involve physical contact. Any act that creates a hostile work environment - be it by virtue of cracking lewd jokes, verbal abuse, circulating lewd rumours etc. counts as sexual harassment.
