Introduction: The National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA) is a National Centre of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, a Research Institute (TIFR). TIFR is a highly reputed autonomous research institute under the Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India. NCRA operates the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope, at Khodad, near Narayangaon, 90 km North of Pune towards Nasik, with its head office in the Pune University Campus.

The Centre administers a medical scheme [NCRA Medical Scheme], and maintains a clinic at its Pune University Campus for which a part time Medical Officer (MO) is being sought. Research Students, Staff, Retirees and their eligible family members are all members of the NCRA medical scheme. The scheme also admits retirees from Dept. of Atomic Energy / Dept of Space and its aided organizations. The total medical beneficiary base is approximately 800. While the beneficiaries settled in Pune normally attend the Clinic in the NCRA Campus, those at Khodad / Narayangaon approach the clinics / hospitals in the local area. However, they could also attend the NCRA Clinic if they wish to do so. For detailed investigations, diagnostics and treatment, beneficiaries are referred to empanelled Pathological Labs / Hospitals. As of now, there are over 10 hospitals in Pune and a couple of pathological labs in the panel. The clinic in the campus is functional for 3 hours on all working days and on Saturdays. The clinic has an attendant to support the MO. Generally, the Medicines prescribed by the MO are delivered to the beneficiary, at the clinic, by a local pharmacy. The Centre will provide the required basic amenities viz., instruments, medicines, consumables etc., in the clinic and the MO may be in touch with Administration for any further assistance required for execution of the assignment.

 

The position is a temporary part-time assignment and hence, the incumbent would not be eligible / entitled for any other benefits apart from the lump sum compensation. The compensation range given in the ad is indicative and a minor increase on the quoted figures is possible depending on the qualification, experience, flexibility to serve additional hours etc. This engagement will not attract any lien towards regular employment in the institute.

 

Job Description:

1. Medical examination, consultation, diagnostics, prescription / treatment to the staff and Family members of NCRA, retirees;

2. Issuing referral letters to authorized hospitals / clinics / labs for necessary pathological / diagnostic tests / further specialized treatment;

3. Maintenance of medical records of the staff / family members;

4. Extending follow up treatment / advices;

5. Dispensing medicines, therapeutics, administering medicines (injection) and maintenance of records of the same;

6. Indenting fresh stock of medicines if required through NCRA Administration;

7. Medical check-up of fresh appointees / students authorized by NCRA Administration;

8. Verification, Countersigning / certification of bills submitted by authorized officials;

9. Issuance of medical certificates in required cases and countersignature of the medical leave applications of staff members based on the merits of individual cases;

10. Emergency services beyond the normal working hours of the clinic on call.

11. Associate in the general medical tests of staff members and or arranging medical camps as is required, independently or in association with our doctors from TIFR, Mumbai and also associate in preparation of proposals for consideration of some new labs and hospitals for inclusion in the list of authorized hospitals.
