Abstract. We determine the total GALEX fluxes (FUV 1350 $-$ 1750 {\AA}) of twenty one Blue Compact Dwarf Galaxies (BCDG's) of the Local Volume (LV). We also make a study of the location of the sites of star formation in these galaxies, as delineated by UV light, with respect to other components of the galaxy, like H I, old stars, optical light etc.
