Abstract. This review describes the ma jor scientific issues related to the study of active galactic nuclei with TAUVEX. The physical motivation is briefly discussed and examples of pro jects suitable for the mission are given with spe- cific ideas about the optimal use of TAUVEX for achieving these goals.
