Computer Systems

We are having one tera flop computing facility in East Campus, NCRA. It is made of 78 nodes with dual Intel Itanium CPU with 4 GB RAM each. It is loaded with HP XC 3.1 system which is based on RHAS 4. Headnode with 24 GB RAM is meant for managing the cluster. We have installed one HP NAS with 6 TB disk space to the system.

We are having one main server namly, dhruva, for our network application. It is HP-XW4100 workstation class computer with 1 GB RAM. It is assigned to perform DNS, NIS, NFS, mailer and gateway. All the users files in home and mail area are kept in safe RAID-1 (mirror) setup with regular backup. The data loss due to any failure is very remote.

We are having two 64 bit computer with quad core Intel Xeon 2.0 GHz servers. We are using these servers for data analysis. IDL 7.0 and MatheMatica 6.0 software also installed in these servers with network license.

We are having five servers for pulsar data analysis in computer room as central facility. Most of the data reduction are performed in individual desktops.

We are having 4 Mbps Internet link through Tata-VSNL. This is our main link to the world. We are also having 2 Mbps private line connecting to TIFR, Mumbai. This link also used for email and Internet facility. We are making use of both the lines simultaneously as load sharing and fail over facility as well.

We are linked to GMRT observatory using 4 Gbps fiber link.

We are having five numbers of online HP Laser printers in network.
