NCRA-TIFR has set up and
operates the world's largest radio telescope at metre wavelengths, the Giant
Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT). GMRT is located at Khodad, near Narayangaon,
about 80 km north of Pune. For details visit http://www.ncra.tifr.res.in. NCRA
is on the lookout for suitably qualified candidates for the following
positions:
1. Engineer-E
[1 UR; HQ: Khodad]:
[TME: Rs.46435
(Pay: Rs.21900 in PB-3 15600-39100 and GP: Rs.7600)].
EQ: First class BE (Mechanical) or
equivalent from a recognized university. Exp.:
At least a total of 9 years in reputed organizations involved in design,
fabrication, erection and maintenance of large structural assemblies.
Additional experience in civil construction and exposure to related activities
is highly desirable. At least 2-3 years of the total experience should be in a
leadership position involving supervision of junior engineers, technicians and
workers.
Job description: To lead a team of mechanical
and civil engineers coordinating different tasks related to maintenance and
upgradation of various systems of the large (45 m dia.), steerable array of 30
antennas of the GMRT project, located at Khodad, near Narayangaon. Primary
responsibility will be in mechanical systems, with secondary responsibility in
civil works. Candidates with additional qualifications and/or experience will
be considered for higher starting remuneration.
Age: Below 40 years.
2. Engineer-D

EQ: First class BE (Mech) or
equivalent from a recognized university. Exp.:
At least 4 years in reputed organizations involved in design, fabrication,
erection and maintenance of large structural assemblies; additional experience
in civil construction and exposure to related activities will be considered
favourably.
Job description: Maintenance and improvements in
mechanical systems related to large (45 m dia), steerable array of 30 antennas
of the GMRT project, located at Khodad, near Narayangaon. Additional
responsibilities include supervising simple civil works at the observatory.
Candidates with additional qualifications and/or experience will be considered
for higher starting remuneration.
Age: Below 35 years.
3. Engineer-C
[1 UR; HQ: Khodad]:
[TME: 34110 (Pay Rs.15600 in PB-3 15600-39100 and GP: Rs.5400)].
EQ: First Class BE/BTech or equivalent in Electrical Engineering (power
systems) from a recognized university. Exp:
at least 2 years in dealing with in house electrical installations and power
distribution systems in a large organisation.
Job description: Maintenance and improvements in
electrical installations (LT/HT) at the GMRT project site. Age: 28 years.
4. Engineer-C
[1 OBC; HQ: Pune/Khodad]:
[TME: 36870/34110: Pay Rs.15600 in PB-3: 15600-39100 and GP: Rs.5400)].
EQ: First Class BE/BTech or
equivalent in Civil Engineering from a recognized university. Exp: at least 2 years in dealing with
construction and maintenance of buildings and related civil structures.
Job description: Construction and maintenance of
residential and office buildings at the campuses of NCRA at Pune and other
locations; including coordination of activities with architects/civil
contractors.
Age: 31 years.
5.Engineer-C
(FTA: 3 years) [1 UR; HQ: Pune]:

EQ: First Class BE (Mech) or
equivalent from a recognized university with 1-2 years experience in design,
fabrication and erection of large structural assemblies.
Age: Below 28 years
6.Administrative
Officer-C [1 OBC; HQ: Ooty]:
[TME: 33210: (Pay Rs.15600 in PB-3 15600-39100 and GP: Rs.5400)].
EQ: Graduate with 60% marks and Diploma in Management. Exp: At least 5 years in GP 4600 /4800 or equivalent level.
Thorough knowledge of GOI rules/ regulations, contracts, procurement,
preparation of budget and control of expenditure, establishment matters. Good
communications and liason skills. Knowledge of personal computers and
applications.
Age: Below 43 years.
7. Scientific
Assistant-B (Trainee)[1 ST PWD (HH); HQ: Khodad]:
[TME: Rs.21655:
Pay: 9300 in PB-2 9300-34800 GP: Rs.4200)].
EQ: B.Sc (Physic / Electronics) /
BCS with more than 60% marks in aggregate. Nature
of job: Initial training in electronics, computer systems and operation of radio
telescopes as Trainee for 1 year. A bond has to be executed before joining to
serve NCRA for at least 3 years after successful completion of training.
Successful training will lead to absorption, on probation, as Scientific
Assistant in PB-2.
Age: 40 years.
8. Graduate
Trainee (4 posts HQ Khodad Tenure 2 years):
Stipend Rs. 9000 pm for 1st year and Rs. 10000 for 2nd year. EQ: 1st class BE/BTech with
electronics/Computer Science or MSc (Electronics/Computer Science). Nature of Job: Analog/Digital/Servo
Electronics
Age : Below 25 years
General:
Candidates are liable to be transferred to other
Centres/ Field Stations of the Institute. Candidates applying for posts at Sr
No. 1 to 7 will be reimbursed appropriate train fare.
Age relaxation as per GOI rules applies to SC / ST / OBC / PH candidates
applying for UR posts. Exceptional candidates with less experience will also be
considered. This institute reserves the right not to fill any or all the
vacancies advertised. Age will be reckoned as on August 1, 2010.
TME:
Total Monthly Emoluments, reflects Pay+GP+DA (presently 35%), HRA, project
